Time Vortex - polymer clay pendant

Description

So, judging by my recent uploads, can anyone tell what I've been watching lately? XD

Anyway. This started out as an experiment with translucent polymer clay, to see what effects would occur when mixing different glitters, mica powders and inks with it, and how high a shine could be gotten without gloss or a buffing wheel. I saw a tutorial on polishing your clay items with an extremely fine sandpaper called micromesh, so I got some and tried it. It's awesome! It produces the highest shine I've ever gotten polishing by hand, there's not a single drop of gloss on this thing, and all I used was a set of micromesh papers, some water, and a piece of denim. The colors and inclusions really sparkle once they're polished like that!

The finished bead sort of reminded me of the time vortex, (at least the view heading into the past) so I hung it on a longer chain to be worn along with my TARDIS necklace. :D

You can read the tutorial I used here: [link]

You can find the micromesh on Amazon or Ebay. It's a bit expensive for sandpaper, but it can be used wet or dry, and it's cloth backed, so it's very sturdy, and will probably last a long time. In my opinion, it's well worth investing in.
