Doctor Who: Fourth doctor's scarf

Description

My first large knitted project, Tom Baker's scarf from Doctor Who. It's about 12 feet long and knitted from worsted weight cotton yarn. It took me approximately 20 days to knit, using a one pound cone of white, and two skeins of red. A few of the stripes have been shortened by one or two inches to make the length a little more wearable. As it is, I can loop it around my neck twice normally or once very loosely and still have the ends just about trail the ground! I dyed all the colors myself except for the red, (I was trying to be economical by dyeing my own colors, but I was afraid of getting pink!) with procion mx dyes. If I do it again I'll have to be a little more careful with the colors, these aren't quite true to the original and they're far too saturated, especially the green and grey, but I think they fit together well enough. :)

That's so cool! how did you get the sides so straight? whenever I do a garter stitch, the edge looks almost frilly >.<
